I'm just a Mom of two Marines. I put my trust in God's hand that he will protect them and bring them home safe. I also pray for their future wives, for they will need to be strong to love and live with a Marine.

I've learned they can be a challenge, they think they are invincible, I can't even imagine a pilot. My oldest works on the flight line and they do carry themselves differently.

Thank you for your service (yes a wife of a Marine does serve) and peace be with you and all you help with your postings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4512963158177331315.post-18063380077328649162011-12-13T07:41:23.777-08:002011-12-13T07:41:23.777-08:00Please email me! Her Air Force husband flew in the Korean War and retired during the Vietnam War. Gilberta saved many of his letters and inserted them in her book. I found her story fascinating and was surprised at how many of their friends were killed. Your experience was similar to hers in many ways and also to my husband. We married after his tour with the Marines and the Vietnam War ended so I was spared the pain so many military families have experienced. Your article is very thoughtful and offers an explanation to the fall out or colleratal damage which is a part of the military. Fran E. All your piece shine, but this one is packed full of raw, hard emotion and truth.

The line that sticks with me the most: "They all show wounds from an explosion they never saw coming thirty some years ago."

xoxoxo

KathyKathleen M.
